Final day!!! Congratulations once again! I bet you can barely stand the anticipation ;)

I just wanted to thank you so much for chronicling your entire publishing journey for readers. It was such a treat to being given behind-the-scenes information when it comes to getting a book published and the craziness that ensues. I wish you were coming to the east coast for your first tour! I'm sure you'll get out here eventually, but you'll probably be a big shot author by then and I'm going to hate waiting in huge lines that wrap around the block just to get into the book store.

I look forward to whatever comes next in the world of Cinder and Marissa Meyer so don't neglect the blog TOO much.

Best of luck, take deep breaths, keep calm and carry on, etc. etc., and ENJOY this wonderful accomplishment that YOU created.

^____^ You have made me feel warm and squishy on this very thrilling day. I am sure there will be an east coast event EVENTUALLY and I am very much looking forward to it when it comes!

Keeping calm and carrying on...

I cannot wait for the book to be published tomorrow!!!

One question- I follow you on twitter but my account is private and I want to try to win some swag with my red heels. is there any other way to send the photo to you?

Re: So exciting!
Hmmm... can you not tweet to other people when your account is private?

Re: So exciting!
You can tweet other people but if they are not following you, they can't see it. I tested it this morning by tweeting you and I am guessing you never saw it. It's OK if it isn't possible.

Really I wanted to say thank you for writing an awesome book and I cannot wait to read the whole thing.

Here's my review

Book Snatch (
Jan. 8th, 2012 02:59 am (UTC)
i have a question since i just finished the book (it was fantastic, by the way) and i saw the trailer on amazon and it featured cinder as a white, caucasian girl. In the book, Cinder is "supposedly" from Europe and your descriptions of Lunars seem to range in different races. But I was curious, is Cinder NOT of Chinese and/or Asian descent at all? Because I originally picked up the book thinking it was cool that it featured an Asian American female main protagonist (New Beijing...right?), kind of like in Scott Westerfeld's Extras. A lot of teen books seem to only have white, female protagonists and as an Asian American female, I was really excited to see that your book might have been different. I think in a blog post somewhere you mentioned that a Japanese actress influenced the creation of Cinder. Is Cinder just mean to be ambiguous, or are we only supposed to focus on the fact that she is a lunar?
Jan. 17th, 2012 12:25 am (UTC)

Hi and thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the book!

Because Lunars are descended from a colony in which many different countries and races were represented, I honestly don't know which race would best represent Cinder. I see her as having slightly olive/tanned skin with dark brown hair and brown eyes - so yes, very ambiguous. She no doubt has many races in her heritage.

I'm sorry I don't have a more clarifying answer!

Hi again!! I was reading all your blogs from your first tour with my roommate. So when we got to the 4th one, with the photos, we of course swooned at your pic for Kai also. Well we thought we recognized him, so we googled the pic. He is Makoto Koshinaka from the Japanese band Lucifer. Thought the name would help if you needed more pics of him for.... inspiration. Lol
