Reading List Breakdown

First things first: I now have an official author fan page on Facebook!

I can't get the dumb Like Icons to work, so here's a normal, boring link:

Okay, on to the Real Post: Reading List Breakdown

About a year and a half ago I compiled some statistics of my to-be-read list, and I thought it was time to revisit that and see what’s changed. I joke a lot that for every book I read, I inevitably add two more to my list, and last weekend’s read-a-thon had me curious to see if that’s actually true (for the record: I read two books and added two, so I actually broke even this time).

The original stats can be found here.

Here’s the by-genre breakdown of my current reading list:

Young Adult: 122
Change: +59
Interesting, given that most of my reading for the past year has been in this genre. I must learn to read faster!)

General Fiction: 99
Change: -24 books
(Last time I’d separated general fiction and romance; this time it’s combined since my romance reading list went way down after too many disappointments in the genre, so the numbers are somewhat skewed. Likely, romance went down about 30 and “general” went up about 6.)

Classic Literature: 49
Change: +5

Writing Guides & Reference: 40
Change: +10

Science-Fiction/Fantasy: 33
Change: +11

Nonfiction: 21
Change: +5

Total Books On List: 364
Change: +66

I estimate that I’ve read almost 100 books since I first put together my statistics, so if my math is correct (and it’s probably not), I add about three books to the list for every two books I read.

Which is slightly better than I’d given myself credit for. :)

Anyone who’s curious can see my list here, although it doesn't include books that I already own. It defaults to young adult, other genres are on the sidebar on the left.

How about you? How fast does your reading list grow? What genres are dominating your list right now?

I don't even want to think about how much my reading list keeps increasing T_T

It's mostly YA books. I'm a sucker for YA.

The romance genre can be a really disappointing genre to try to read through sometimes. I saw you had a few on your list I have read but if you really want some serious recommendations that are truly wonderfully written series, let me know and I can throw out a few.

Niiice! Great pictures on facebook, by the way, they're really cool!

Well, according to my Goodreads count, I've read 53 books this year and counting. (Please, do not say you envy me, my word counts on my WIP are suffering from this).

This looks to me like another form of procrastination ;p

How's Winter going?

Consistent blogging is important to my author platform!!

Or something like that.

Winter is going slow, LIKE usual, but still on schedule to be done this month. With fingers crossed. :)
